DJI Mavic 2 Pro Review

DJI has finally come with more creativity with its Mavic 2 Pro series that replaced the Phantom series. This model of DJI boasts of having the best and largest image sensor you could have in a drone. It will definitely give you better video and image results than similar model drones. Though, the Mavic 2 Pro is a little expensive but worth spending money on. Below you will find our DJI Mavic 2 Pro review and complete insights about its features.

DJI Mavic 2 Pro – Best Small Drone

This is the best drone for drone enthusiasts and professional photographers alike. According to many, the choice between the DJI Mavic 2 Pro and the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom is not an easy one. In fact, these are two identical drones, while only the camera is different.

The DJI Mavic 2 Pro, just like the other DJI drones, is actually one of which you can hardly question the quality. Still, it remains a question of whether you should go for the DJI Mavic 2 Pro or the Zoom version. For close-up shots, it’s best to choose the latter, but in all other cases, it is the DJI Mavic 2 Pro that wins and tops the list. In both cases, we are of course talking about the somewhat professional drone photographer because the DJI Mavic 2 Pro comes with a serious price tag. As an amateur photographer, there are certainly cheaper alternatives available. But if you want better quality images and photos, then DJI Mavic 2 Pro is the way to go.

Are features such as an excellent camera, a longer flight time, and obstacle detection enough to convince you of the DJI Mavic 2 Pro? You certainly don’t have to read any further from us. This model is being sold at different prices on different websites, so you have to check the different prices to find the cheapest one to buy.

DJI Mavic 2 Pro Design

The best thing about this drone is its folding design which is taken from its predecessor Mavic Pro. folding and unfolding this drone is simple and one just needs to swing its front and rear arms to fold this drone for storage. Despite being a little bigger in size than its previous models, this is a portable drone that fits easily into the storage bag to take it anywhere around.

The DJI Mavic 2 Pro is of course no stranger. It is a new drone in DJI’s rich drone collection, yet still the market leader in quality drones for the consumer market. Many people were crazy about the classic DJI Mavic and it is clear that the company has remained faithful to this when designing the DJI Pro Mavic 2. It looks just like the previous version but is about 25% heavier than its predecessor. The DJI 2 Pro is also just a tad larger. However, the difference is quite small and our backpack for the Mavic 1 could also be used with the Mavic Pro 2, which is a plus. Just like its predecessor, the arms can still be folded out and you immediately feel that you have quality in your hands.

However, there are of course also a number of innovations. For example, the aerodynamically shaped propellers make the DJI Pro 2 quieter, while the gimbal and camera look sturdier thanks to the double hinge. The protective cap, which is just difficult to apply, is a downside of the DJI Maverick Pro 2. Another downside is that we cannot use our batteries from the Mavic 1 with the DJI Maverick Pro 2. We had just invested a lot in it, so that’s a shame.

Finally, the slot for the microSD is added, which is attached with such a thin piece, and does not immediately appeal to us. If you forget to close it properly or if there is a strong wind, it will have flown away before you know it. So pay close attention before you let the Mavic Air 2 Pro go into the air. Of course, you can also use the Maverick Pro 2 without a memory card because it has an internal memory of 8 GB.

Features and Specifications of DJI Mavic 2 Pro

Technically, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro is a real improvement. The many sensors ensure that you can fly indoors without danger and thanks to the new landing lights you can even land your Mavic 2 Pro Plus in the middle of the night without risk of damage.

Furthermore, the DJI Pro 2 Mavic is all about flight performance. You would have to use the DJI Mavic 2 Pro a little more intensively to form a good idea, but we did a few test flights and were already positive. The sound production is quite good and in many ways the DJI Mavic 2 Pro can actually be compared to the Mavic Pro. We do not notice many differences, except that the control is just a bit nicer and it is slightly easier to fly in circles. Not that that matters to everyone, but it’s a plus. We do recommend fine-tuning things in the accompanying app.

Finally, what we absolutely love is the ActiveTrack 2.0 functionality of the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. This allows you to continuously keep track of a moving subject without risking that you will suddenly fly into something. We did it with a bunny and even when it disappeared under the foliage for a while, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro didn’t give up. Definitely a plus for those who love nature videos.

Comparison of Mavic 2 Pro with other Drones

We have already talked about using DJI Mavic 2 Pro, of course, and the sensors naturally play an important role. The sticks are now removable, but that is not an important plus. A bigger plus is that the range is now higher and the dual remote control option so that you can control the DJI Mavic 2 Pro with two people. This way, you can focus on controlling the drone, and your partner takes care of the camera. Still quite handy and surely an essential plus for those who want to get started professionally with the DJI Mavic 2 Pro.

Like its predecessor, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro is again one of the best quality. We tested this drone for the durability test, and it performed well in the most extreme conditions. For example, a blow with a Barbie doll did not unbalance the Mavic, and even a punch from a basketball managed to survive the Mavic well. We have not tried it out, but we dare to assume that the DJI Mavic 2 Pro would score at least as well. To what extent was the environment considered in the design? We’re left a little ignorant on that front, but it’s good that the DJI Mavic 2 Pro design improved year after year.

Conclusion

We are totally convinced of the DJI Mavic 2 Pro and therefore recommend it; we also shared a detailed DJI Mavic Pro 2 review to help users with its features, pros and cons’. Of course, this drone is not for everyone but a professional drone photographer who likes to get the most out of his drone should read the DJI Mavic Pro 2 Review. Do you also want to shoot good images without having to get too close to your object? Then we would recommend the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom.
