Different Types of Headphones
First of all, there are several different types of headphones available on the market. One type is made to be worn around your neck and over your ears, while another wraps comfortably behind your head. Others can either rest in front or wrap all the way around your ear for a more comfortable fit.
Wireless Headphones:
Wireless headphones use Bluetooth technology to connect the headset and your PC. This makes it easier for you to move around, as there is no cable that will limit your movements or get in the way. And some models come with a range of up to 100 ft (30 m).
There are also wireless microphones that plug into your PC’s USB port using a dongle. These models will provide better sound quality than Bluetooth because they use digital audio, not compressed analog signals like Bluetooth technology.
Wired Headphones:
The most basic wired models are available in either earbud or headphone styles, with the latter offering more convenience and better sound quality. They come in a variety of colors to match your PC’s case or any other accessory that you might have for it.
There are also wired headsets that have both headphones and microphone cords attached together.
This type of headset is perfect for people who want to use their PCs while they are still being used by someone else, such as in an office or family room.
Headset Design:
Headsets come with either on-ear headphones that rest over your ears or earbuds that fit more snugly into your ears.
Some models will only have the on-ear design, while others come with both options to give you a better choice when it comes to comfort and sound quality.
Bluetooth:
With Bluetooth technology in use for wireless devices like mobile phones and laptops, some headsets now use it to connect the headphones and microphones together.
This means you can continue using your PC’s built-in Bluetooth for other devices, like speakers or a wireless mouse.
Other Features:
Once you have decided on which type of headset will work best for your needs, there are some extra features that might make your experience even better.
Surround sound is an excellent feature for gamers, as it will provide them with the ultimate in realism while playing their favorite games or watching movies.
Many headsets also come with noise-canceling features that make it easier to hear what you are listening to, regardless of where you are.
This is especially helpful when you are watching a movie or playing games on your PC since it will block out any outside noises that might distract you.
There are also models with built-in controls for volume and muting the microphone so that no one else can hear what you’re saying while wearing them.
Some models will have controls on the earcup itself, while others might be built into a separate module that can either clip onto your shirt or rest in your pocket.

3. Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Wireless Headset
Turtle Beach is a well-known company, and their headsets have been around for quite some time. They have a complete lineup of gaming headsets from the cheapest to the most expensive.
The Stealth 700 is one of three wireless headsets in the Turtle Beach lineup for Xbox One as of this writing. You can check out our previous review on their other wireless headset, the Stealth 600, which I think still holds up as great value for money even though it’s been almost 2 years since we published that review.

4. Razer Barracuda X Wireless Multi-Platform Gaming and Mobile Headset
Razer Barracuda X Wireless Multi-Platform Gaming and Mobile Headset is an amazing headset made for gamers on the go. With its noise-canceling mic, surround sound that only Razer can offer, wireless capabilities, padded ear cups, and frequency response that goes from 10Hz to 28kHz make this headset incredible.
I am usually not a fan of wireless headsets, but this is one of the best-looking headphones that I’ve seen in a while. The pictures do not even show how nice the headset actually looks, and it comes in three different colors black, green, and pink to match your personality. Having this headset, I can say it is a very refreshing look from all the black headphones that are usually the standard for gaming headsets.
One thing about this headset that stands out from other wireless headphones is its sound quality and I think Razer really did a nice job with this one. The only thing budget users think would be its price tag, but if you have the money then I would highly recommend it.
The Barracuda is very lightweight and well-padded to keep your head comfortable when wearing them for long hours. The ear cups are made out of memory foam so they will conform to your ears over time giving you hours of comfort when using this headset.
This headset also comes with a built-in amplifier that you can use to control the bass and treble levels, as well as surround sound. It even comes with a digital USB cord and optical input cables for your console gamers out there.
As far as using this headset wirelessly, I was very impressed with how long it lasted on one charge. I played hours and hours of Call of Duty 4 online and still had plenty to charge. I usually play for over four hours at a time, but the built-in amp and receiver made me not need to recharge until around six or seven hours.
The wireless range was also impressive as I walked well beyond my living room with the console in hand and still had a clear connection. I was even able to fix my cup of coffee and sit on the couch without any loss in sound.
As far as getting noise canceling when you’re talking, it’s pretty good but not perfect by any means. Your voice will come out loud and it will cut out background noise at least for other people listening, so you can hear them better. This is one of the best wireless headphones for office use and gameplay.
The Razer Barracuda is a great-looking headset with all the features. You can use this wireless gaming headset comfortably. If you have to spend on expensive headphones, I would highly recommend this one over other wireless headsets out there today.
Pros
- Awesome design and colors
- Long wireless range
- Noise cancellation
Cons
A decent gaming headset for users
5. Jabra Elite 45h Wireless Headphone
From the moment you unbox these headphones, you’ll be impressed with their look. Jabra has taken all their know-how in designing this great headphone and put all essentials into this product.
These headphones are amazing to wear, very comfortable, and provide a superior noise canceling that we’ve come to appreciate on some other headphones, like the QC35.
I’ve been using them for about two months now and I can honestly say that they are so good that my girlfriend is considering stealing them from me (why do women do this?).
One of the most important aspects of a Bluetooth headset is battery life and, in that field, Jabra doesn’t disappoint. With up to 15 hours of use (listening to music), I only charged them once over the course of one week.
At first, it may seem like they last less but since they charge so fast, I kept forgetting to plug them in overnight!
Pros
- Very comfortable, you won’t even feel them.
- Perfect for a long flight or a day at the office.
- Good sound signature for electronic and pop music.
- Great battery life (15 hours).
- Fast recharging.
Cons
- Balanced but slightly on the bass side.
