Everything You Need To Make The Perfect Coffee (Brew) At Home

First things first:

The type of machine you use to make coffee at home is important. While there are machines out in the market that can do your magic for you if you want to save time and money by doing it yourself at home, here’s what you need:

How To Grind Coffee Beans?

Grinding coffee beans is an important step in the whole process because this will be what will determine your brew’s taste, texture, and even the speed of your coffee maker. There are a lot of ways to grind beans but here’s one tip: do not buy pre-ground coffee!

Grinding beans right before brewing ensures that you get a richer aroma and taste because it is fresher. You can choose from a bladed grinder or one with burrs. These days, you can also find a lot of electric grinders to make your work a whole lot easier!

1: Grind The Beans Yourself

While there are a couple of options for grinding coffee beans, the best way is definitely to do it yourself right before brewing. You can choose from two types of grinders you can use at home:

Blade grinder – this is probably the cheapest type of coffee grinder in the market. It works by chopping up beans with spinning blades found in its chamber. While it can do its job, it can be kind of inconsistent when it comes to grinding. If you’re one of those who don’t mind chunky grounds, then this should be fine for you.

Burr grinder – these coffee grinders use rotating plates with sharp teeth to crush and slice the beans into small chunks, resulting in a nice and even texture. These types of grinders don’t always come cheap but they’re definitely one of the best options out there!

2: Grind The Beans Coarsely

Remember the blade grinder we mentioned earlier? While this can definitely do its job, it’s best to grind coarsely as opposed to finely. Here’s the trick: if you’re using a blade grinder, set your machine to run for about 30 seconds and then stop and check on your grounds. If you’re not satisfied with the consistency, run the machine again for about 10 to 15 seconds until you get what you need.

3: Grind Just The Right Amount Of Coffee

If you’re still using a blade grinder, it’s best to use two tablespoons of ground coffee beans per one cup of water. This might seem like too much but remember that the grounds settle at the bottom of your coffee cup.

4: Store And Serve Your Coffee

Once you’re done with grinding, it’s best to store them in an airtight container or jar and keep it inside the refrigerator.
